As a future elementary school teacher I want to utilize all of the tools I have at my disposal. I would use my knowledge of making surveys to create a parent feedback survey. This survey would give me data that I could use to improve my relationship with future parents. After learning the IF function on excel I think recording grades would be super easy. The data would also be organized for when I have to make report cards.

I found my classmates blog to be very interesting. I loved seeing other peoples opinions on the topics. I always thought it was cool how people were able to relate their past experiences to the various topics. Another thing I liked was how everyone's blog had a different personality to it.

I think I would like to eventually learn Photoshop. I think using Photoshop to make funny pictures would be a great improvement on my life. I guess I could use it to be productive but that would be boring.  I will achieve this goal by teaching myself Photoshop.

A flipped classroom is a pedagogical model in which lectures take place at home and work is done in a standard classroom. I have first hand experience with a flipped classroom. In my 9th grade math class my teacher had attempted to maintain a flipped classroom. She would expect us to watch certain Youtube videos on a specific topic and we would use that knowledge in class the next day. She had a major problem with students not watching the videos at home. I personally do not like the flipped classroom method of teaching because not all students have reliable access to the internet. My favorite place to go when I need help in school is https://www.khanacademy.org/ . This website has a wide array of topics from kindergarten math to calculus.

Open education allows for large amounts of people to access large amounts of information. Some political leaders are urging the United Nations to make Internet a universal human right because of this reason. There are 4 main componets of open content: reuse, revise, remix, and redistribute. Reuse is meant for one person, revising and remixing are editing the content and combining it together with other information, and redistribution means distributing resources in a different way. The example the website provides is https://ocw.mit.edu/index.htm , this website has a collection of MIT lectures for free. Open education is not only useful for students but for teachers as well.

I really liked the power point assignments. I learned a lot of useful skills for the future. The thing that made me angry on the first power point the sound did not work. I made sure my microphone was working and even heard the audio being played back. The second power point assignment was a lot more fun because I was not stressed about finding a topic.

I believe all of the technologies we saw in the lab could be beneficial to schools. I believe that voice to text typing is the most beneficial. Voice to text typing allows students with a wide range of disabilities to use a computer.

PowerPoint can be used to support student learning at each level of Blooms-Taxonomy. Knowledge can be supported by putting terms, definitions, and details on a slide. Comprehension can be supported by having questions on the power point or by providing detailed descriptions of a topic. To support application a power point can use the concept that was previously explained to build on to a new concept. Understanding how these concepts build off each other would support analysis. This can also be done by providing in-depth discussion questions. To support synthesis a power point could include information about a relevant issue and explain how the concept is related.  To support evaluation the power point could have a feedback element or facilitate a discussion on why the concept is the way it is.

My favorite website to learn about technology trends and news in general is Reddit.com. Reddit can be either a great resource to get information quickly, it can also lead to crippling procrastination. Reddit is divided by millions of topics and there are a few about technology. My favorite two are the subreddits for technology, R/technology and for gadgets, R/gadgets. I like R/Gadgets because I like to fantasize about owning a lot of cool technology. R/Technology is an excellent place to find news about technology trends and news about technology in general.

Adaptive technologies help people with disabilities use computers and succeed academically. My favorite adaptive technology is input voice technology. This technology allows people who are unable to type use a computer. This technology is also good for people who are lazy. I have never used any adaptive technologies. I do not know anyone who uses adaptive technologies. I believe that funding for adaptive technologies will be the biggest challenge.

I have already had to create a website for another class so I didn't acquire any new skills. I think that this website could have been a little more colorful and had more text. I like the process of website building because I think its easy. The thing I dislike most about building a website is that it can be time consuming. I think building a website similar to this could help in my future career as a teacher. I would want to have a way for parents to be able to have resources to use at home for their children.

Using Diigo in class taught me a better way to annotate articles. This would be helpful in the classroom because students could share annotations, share bookmarks, and share websites. This could be useful to a group of teachers because it would allow them to share resources with each other. Individually Diigo can be used to easily search bookmarks or categorize websites.

ILP participation - Tech Sandbox tour

I loved the field trip to the tech sandbox. I got to learn about so many interesting technologies. I think my favorite things were the Promethean board, the 3D printer, and the ball that you control with an Ipad. The Promethean board is great classroom tool because you can display videos, write on it, and have the students use it for an activity. I think the ball was cool but I do not think it has any practical classroom use. The 3D printer has some interesting uses if the teacher is willing to be creative. The 3D printer could be used to create interactive models for students. Overall I enjoyed the experience and I will be going to the Tech sandbox when I have some free time. I am a terrible picture taker so I only have a few good photos.
